Case Study: Diamond Credit Union

The Journey with Pure IT

In 2010, Jim Daly took on the role of CIO at Diamond Credit Union (Diamond), bringing a wealth of credit union expertise and a vision for enhancing its IT infrastructure. However, as the credit union grew, so did the complexity of its IT needs. One of the most pressing challenges was the need for a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Finding a full-time CISO proved difficult, and Jim knew they needed expert guidance to navigate the evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Engaging with Pure IT for Virtual CISO Advisory Services

In search of a solution, Jim Daly turned to Pure IT. “What brought me strongest to Pure IT was the CUSO aspect of it because I wanted somebody who’s going to know our industry,” shared Jim. The initial engagement focused on virtual CISO advisory services. The Pure IT CISO team provided security insights beyond what internal teams and examiners could offer, bringing industry input and new possibilities to the table.

Jim appreciated having a partner who had the same conversations with multiple credit unions, leveraging external knowledge while staying within the industry. The virtual CISO advisor replaced the full-time CISO requirement, enhancing Diamond’s security posture and compliance with industry standards.

Microsoft Exchange and Teams Configuration Projects

Diamond also engaged with Pure IT’s project team, where the Pure IT project engineers supplemented Diamond’s internal IT staff. Two key projects were migrating to Microsoft Exchange and configuring Teams. This allowed the credit union to work more collaboratively, efficiently, and securely within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

Pure IT’s extensive experience in these projects ensured that Diamond Credit Union received the best guidance and support, with the flexibility to choose their level of engagement. Jim noted, “We can partner with Pure IT for the level of effort we need. I don’t have to worry about being sold something we won’t utilize.”

Joining NCU-ISAO for Enhanced Collaboration

Diamond also joined the NCU-ISAO through Pure IT. This membership provided access to affordable, valuable resources that strengthened the partnership and enhanced industry research. The collaboration with Pure IT and NCU-ISAO brought a wealth of information and expertise, fostering trust and confidence within the credit union.

Thank you, Jim and the entire Diamond team, for partnering with you. We look forward to continuing to serve your credit union and helping keep your members safe and secure!
